East Chicago

East Chicago, Indiana has about 28,000 residents currently, although it had a high of 58,000 in 1960. It’s known as a gritty industrial area, built on the broad back of the early steel mills and transportation waterways. The steel crisis in the 70’s unfortunately demolished the EC economy.

Through economic incentives for home buyers, East Chicago Indiana is making attempts at a slow recovery. The taxes that the Ameristar Casino bring in certainly help also. Its proximity to Chicago, Illinois make EC a promisong place for industry and manufacturing.
