Lincoln Center Highland Is A Jewel For The Entire Region

The Lincoln Center Highland is one of this towns shining jewels, offering residents a valuable community center, with a little bit of hometown history mixed in. Conveniently located on Lincoln Avenue just one block east of Indianapolis Boulevard, its central Highland location make it easy for all of Northwest Indiana to enjoy as well. The entire Region is welcome at the Highland Lincoln Community Center!

Lincoln Center Highland has Grown with the Town

Built in the 1945 as the Lincoln Elementary School, older generations remember going to school here. Progress marches forward and eventually this elementary school closed, in the early 1980s. However, that wasn’t the end for this piece of Highland history.

The Town of Highland bought the property and in 1983 the Parks and Recreation Department started running a community center out of the old school building. The Lincoln Community Center has had improvements over the years such as a huge fieldhouse addition in 1997.

A major renovation in the 2010’s upgraded the community complex to the valuable Region asset it is today.  Banquet rooms, an aerobic and dance studio, fitness center, and new and improved lobby were added after input from the town residents.

Along with the classrooms, daycare, and fieldhouse it already had, the center has something for everybody, all ages, both Highland residents and non-residents. Whether you call it by its proper name The Lincoln Community Center, or by its slang names of Highland Community Center, Highland Lincoln Center, or even the Highland Fieldhouse … Lincoln Center Highland welcomes all!

The Highland Lincoln Center Hosts Many Community Events

The Town of Highland Parks and Recreation Department hosts many classes, lessons, adult and youth sports leagues, and community events throughout the year. Many of these are hosted inside the Lincoln Center’s classrooms and fieldhouse.

Some of the most popular functions held at the community center include four community garage sales, craft and vendor shows, a summer camp for the kids, fitness programs for all ages, senior wellness health events and social group, art and dance classes, self defense classes for all ages, and more.

Highland residents receive a seasonal brochure in the mail announcing all the events and their prices. However, the community center and its amenities are available to all for a small fee. The walking track is free for all though.
