Dyer’s Commitment To Northgate Park Upgrades
Northgate Park was built along with the subdivision in the 1970s primarily. Over the years, the amenities grew but the park had started to show its age. So The Dyer Parks and Recreation Department, guided by The Dyer Parks Master Plan, has made room in the budget for ongoing Northgate Park renovations.
Since 2017, the small playground, bathrooms, ball fields and pavilion have seen upgrades. A lightning prediction system was installed. And so much more, as outlined by page 65 of the Master Plan.
More improvements are in the works for Northgate Park Dyer including concession area upgrades, walking path improvements including an outdoor fitness station, and resurfacing the Calumet Ave parking lot.

Playgrounds
Dyer Northgate Park has two playground areas, known as the large playground and the small playground. Mature shade trees and tables and benches surrounding the play area make Northgate a very popular playground.
The small playground was replaced in 2017 with new equipment and pour in place surfacing material – which are those safer rubber chips. The large playground got new equipment in 2010, according to the Dyer Master Plan.
Baseball/Softball Fields
Northgate Park in Dyer is home to five baseball/softball fields! Four have fenced-in outfields and three have lighting for nighttime games.
The ball fields recently added more bleachers and concrete bleacher pads. Windscreens and yellow fence capping was also installed in four of the fields.

My kids and I enjoyed sledding at Northgate Park, and then were really pleasantly surpised with the Town of Dyer replaced the playground equipment with really nice new equipment and also added the rubber floor. We used to come home occasionally with mudy pants from falling in the woodchips, but the new rubber flooring was a game changer! what a great park!
