What Is a Restaurant Crawl?
A restaurant crawl is an event where attendees visit several restaurants in one evening. Crawls are often held in low-key, casual environments with a focus on trying new food and drinks in a social setting that encourages conversation and exploration.
Crawls are a wonderful way to get out of your normal routine and explore new places and foods. If you enjoy trying new foods, visiting new restaurants, or meeting new people, then the Highland Restaurant Crawl may be right up your alley.
Why go to Downtown Highland Monthly Restaurant Crawl?
First and foremost, please support your local small businesses. The pandemic closed many shops and we need to vote with our dollars to keep small business America alive.
Regardless, the Highland Restaurant Crawl is a fantastic way to try new flavors, meet some new people, and explore the town. You might even make some new friends. You can go at your own pace and visit as many or as few stops as you like.
Which Restaurants Are Included in the Highland Restaurant Crawl?
Every month a diverse set of downtown Highland restaurants will be included in the Highland Restaurant Crawl. It won’t be the same set of restaurants or dishes each month, so you will have plenty of variety to look forward to each time you go.
When and Where is the Highland Indiana Restaurant Crawl?
The Highland Restaurant Crawl takes place every last Tuesday of the month, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, rain or shine. The location for the crawl is centered in downtown Highland, planned for walkability. There is free public parking lot next to the gas station on Highway and Kennedy.
The Conditions: What You Should Know Before You Go
- Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll want to park and walk from one restaurant to the next. Wear shoes you can walk in.
- Be patient. The restaurants only hold a certain number of crawlers, so you’ll want to get there early to secure your spot.
- Bring cash. It’s very busy during the crawl and for speed, cash is appreciated.
- Don’t overdo it. Eat what you can, but remember to pace yourself.
- Bring a carry bag. Plan on getting extra servings of your favorites to take home for leftovers!
- Call in your take-out order in advance, if permitted by the restaurant.
- Get ready to have a fun time at the Downtown Restaurant Crawl Highland Indiana!

The Highland Restaurant Crawl seems like a fantastic way to explore the diverse culinary scene of downtown Highland, Indiana. The article highlights, “The Highland Indiana Restaurant Crawl is absolutely worth it.” Have you ever participated in a similar restaurant crawl event, and if so, what was your favorite discovery during the culinary adventure?
Thank you for the thoughtful question, Dr. Peter Blank DDS. I should delete all those other dentists remarks for their elementary attempts at SEO and give you the win (except I’m having too much fun). I actually attended a Wine Pairing event in Northwest Indiana a couple weeks ago, similar but different… I’m not a big wine drinker but I was excited for the good food it was paired with. I was pleasantly surprised by how a good wine with the right dish (even dessert!) was fabulous. I recommend becoming a member at Coopers Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Merrillville Indiana and attending their monthly THEMED wine pairing events! In case you visit NW Indiana with your family, here’s other things to do in NW Indiana as well!
This article wonderfully highlights the vibrant culinary scene in downtown Highland, Indiana, making the Restaurant Crawl an enticing event for food enthusiasts. I’m intrigued by the variety of dishes offered during the Restaurant Crawl. Are there any standout recommendations or must-try specialties from previous crawls that you would suggest for first-time participants?
Boy, dentists sure love a destination restaurant crawl! I imagine being so “pro teeth”, you might not like the sweets served at The Counter. But at $7 a piece, I say #supportsmallbusiness and bring your Doctor paycheck here to Highland Indiana 46322 and hit every restaurant! Heck, get extras and bring left-overs home!!
This engaging article on the restaurant crawl in Highland, Indiana, paints a vivid picture of the diverse culinary scene in the area. The detailed descriptions of each restaurant’s ambiance and signature dishes create a tantalizing invitation for readers to explore the local gastronomic offerings. As someone who appreciates culinary experiences, I’m curious to know if there are any hidden gems or lesser-known spots that locals particularly cherish but might not be as well-known to visitors. Discovering those off-the-beaten-path establishments could add an extra layer of authenticity to the Highland dining experience. What local favorites or unique finds would you recommend for those looking to delve deeper into Highland’s culinary delights?
OK Dr M, this is a little over the top. It’s not THAT vivid. It did make me smile though, you little Indiana Smile Maker… 🙂 But to answer your question: Les Cafe Pancake House in downtown Highland is a great local restaurant with the friendliest staff! They close at 4 pm though so they do not participate in the Highland Indiana Restaurant Crawl.
As someone who appreciates exploring new culinary delights, this guide has definitely sparked my interest in planning a visit to Highland, Indiana, and embarking on my own flavorful restaurant crawl. Well done!
Thank you, Dr. S!
Interesting read! I have always loved traveling for adventure and food and this article is a great help. I am currently planning to visit Highland, Indiana ever since I saw an article from Colby Dental about the things to do there. Can you recommend me some good hotels to stay in with great food?
Thank you! There are many hotels to choose from in Highland and the nearby surrounding areas. It depends on your budget. The Courtyard by Marriott is very conveniently right off the major expressway, near things to do, and a quick bite to eat at Cracker Barrel and across the street from craft breweries, and other chain restaurants and good hotels like Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn. The downtown Highland area, where you can enjoy the restaurants featured at The Restaurant Crawl in Highland IN, is just a mile South. There are also some nice upscale food choices on Calumet Ave in Munster Indiana as well as upscale hotels, which is just a couple of miles away from Highland. For instance, SpringHill Suites is a brand new Marriott property in Munster with great food and drink, a beautiful park with golf, and a Veterans Memorial all within walking distance.
Why hasn’t growlers and langels posted their crawl menu
They didn’t do last month either
I noticed that too. I’m not sure why. They usually let us know the day of. I try to update it as soon as I know on Tuesday though.
I’m working on a new feature for this monthly post that might entice the restaurants to submit their menus early. Stay tuned…
